The schools involvement is part of the CELL programme co-ordinated by the North Pennines AONB.  Ceri Gibson spent some time at the school explaining the work that would be done before leading a day of invertebrate monitoring and chemical measurements including heavy metal detection.  The students rose to the challenge of a cold morning (the first snow of the year) to diligently collect data to a nationally accepted standard.
