Tyne Fishery educational visits
03 December 2009
This years Broodstock Collection and Kielder Hatchery visit have proved to be the most successful yet. All events were fully attended and we had to sneak a couple of extra people into the hatchery on popular demand. With agreement from the Hatchery manager of course.
Tyne Rivers Trust guests were provided with a rare treat to witness the efficient collection of salmon and sea trout as part of the Environment Agencies fisheries programme. Anglers and wildlife enthusiasts alike were delighted to see the condition and size of these majestic species. Generous hospitality provided beside a warming fire afterwards encouraged engaging continued conversation towards a better understanding of the fishery management of the Tyne Catchment.
At the Hatchery, visitors watched on as the next cycle of life was initiated - in a plastic bowl. The events were so popular that TRT are hoping to add to the programme for next year.
