Thanks to marvellous blue skies and sunshine, lots of eager members of the public turned out on Sunday to try their hand at many of the river related activities on offer at Lambley Farm.  Visitors could enjoy studying the abundance of aquatic creatures in the South Tyne River nearby, receive professional coaching for 'fly casting' and go on a river walk guided by Prof. Malcolm Newson of TRT who explained geology, heritage and history features of interest.

Children competing in the 'Cast a weight into the Hoop' competition at Lambley FarmNew to the event this year; children had the chance to enter competitions such as fly casting a weight into hoops on the grass and attempting to catch some of the small fish by trotting bait down the river downstream of the farm.  The ultimate children's prize of an 'Orvis Junior Fly Fishing Outfit' (rod, reel and line) went to 10 year old Jack House on holiday in the area from France.  Congratulations Jack!

A raffle on the day raised £55 towards Coanwood children's nursery.  Prizes included a day's fishing for parent and child and a bottle of champagne.

The combination of a roaring barbeque, refreshments to order, a friendly atmosphere and experts from the Tyne Rivers Trust at hand; made for a great day out for all the family.  Tyne Rivers Trust would particularly like to thank the Slasor family for hosting the event.
